3 YEARS IN REHAB-- REGAINED MOBILITY AFTER DOCTORS SAID NO
The 6th time Keone got the bends the doctors put him in the hyperberic chamber. When he went in his right leg from the
hip down was paralyzed. He disagreed when the doctors told him to get out of the chamber; he knew a lot about it and told
them to leave him in longer. They didn't and when he came out he was paralyed; all but the left arm.
He then spent 3 years in rehab and never lost faith, against the doctors opinion that he would never walk again. He now
has enough mobility to walk with two canes, not far, but enough to get in and out of his wheelchair--in and out of bed. He
can even drive using his canes. He's also on the Hilo paddling team and just competed in the "physically impaired paddling
championships in New Zealand.
