        IMPORTANCE OF DIAGNOSIS
What a big difference diagnosis can make.

The parents realized there was some developmental difficulties going on with their 18 month old daughter.  They took her to a number of doctors.  The first one said it was Turret’s syndrome; they had been warned beforehand the doctor was going to say this—rightfully so.

The second appt. was with a highly touted doctor from UCLA; took 6 mo. to get an appointment.  When she arrived at the appt. the doctor told her she had to give a speech that day and didn’t have much time.  She was diagnosed with Mental Retardation by this doctor.

Finally she was referred by two other parties to the same doctor. This doctor said her daughter would grow up with learning disabilities but would eventually go to high school.  And that is what happened.  She is now 16 years old,(2005), some learning disabilities and is in high school.  She ABSOLUTELY loves Yoga.

Diagnosis--Rashes
My son used to get rashes when he was young.  I called the local
well-respected dermotologist but it took  him sometime to get back to
me.  I made another appointment with the local pediatrician.  Just
before our appointment the dermotologist called and I asked him if he
thought it could be from the antibiotic treatment my son had just
finished for something else.  He said for sure it could be from that.
When I asked the pediatrician he said they just didn't know what rashes
came from and he didn't think it could be from the antibiotics.  As I
saw with my son it was usually some kind of food allergy.  The first
time it was mushrooms, he was under one year old them.  Another time it
was from strawberries. He grew out of the rash stage  as he grew older.

Another rash story.  I got a rash recently and it kept getting worse.
The Kaiser doctor didn't know what it was from and gave me ointment and
some anti-fungal/anti-itching.  It didn't work.  Then I went to a
naturopath that has done some good for me in the past.  He wasn't sure
what it was either.  He even did some extensive food allergy testing.  I
finally went to my doctor.  He diagnosed too much sugar--a candida type diet
and an anti-fungal  Diflucan.  I couldn't have any sugars for one month.
That worked;the rash finally went away
